As of September, 2012 I have been serving in the U.S. Army as an officer in the State of Hawaii.  It has proved to be a great test of putting learned leadership to the test.  The trials I have endured in training to become a Lieutenant were accurately honed in the nearly year long Officer Leader Training the Army offers for prior enlisted Soldiers.  The lessons learned have been practiced in a realistic training environment.  I am the first here to attest that you must take what you learn in books and put them into real practice.  Only a well-rounded leader can be valuable in times of duress.  Take what you learn from years of study and place that into a situational environment where you can put your skills to the test.  The best leadership is learned by doing.

Economy without leaders.

Lately, there has been a struggle between certain parts of the economy that demand answers. Protests were held, meetings were held, yet the media portrays no common leader. If there was to be a leader, the Occupy movement would have had an impact. It was a pseudo-led phenomenon that arose due to the disgust of the American people about a number of issues related to the economy.
If there was a clear leader to act as a representative towards the people's disgust, this movement would have gained traction and real reforms could have taken place. Americans were and still are looking for that leader to step up; not for political, military, or any other means but stability and freedom. Stability in our markets (balance) and freedom to live as Americans always have.
Since the economic debacle, I have dedicated a very large percentage of my time to reading and learning about economic issues our nation faces.
If the time comes where I ever run for office, I will untangle the mess that people are taught through various media sources. I will do my best to educate and enlighten those whom are in-the-dark on the vast imbalances in our economy. In the meantime, I encourage you to learn for yourselves and try to figure out what is really going on.

MLS: Masters in Leadership Studies

After many years of studying leadership in an informal manner, I decided to make is worth its weight in gold by applying it towards a degree. The University of Texas at El Paso is where I am currently attending while serving in the US Army at Fort Bliss. In the Army I attended Warrior Leaders Course and was soon after promoted to Corporal which is the position of a Non Commissioned Officer. I am putting together a packet for OCS or Officer Candidate School to further my leadership education in the military and eventually earn my commission.

So, far in just a few short months of attending the MLS program (Masters in Leadership Studies), I have read some outstanding books. A few of my favorites include: The Leadership Secrets of Colin Powell, Level Three Leadership, and Servant Leadership. The curriculum is challenging so I like that about it. Remember to always stay focused on the end goal and write down things you want to accomplish as it triggers it into your subconscious.

Simply Action

Those that are committed to action take the lead in every respect. If you desire to lead others it starts with taking action. As my friend Devin T. Robinson X always says "Action is louder than words". To be responsible for your actions is of greater importance since you must always be on top of your game: Thinking before you speak, Acting on what you say.

Be the best you can be by BEING the Best! Never settle for less than what you are worth. You are worth as much as you act on. Being there for others, calling on friends, helping those less fortunate, preserving and building good strong relationships all account for your self discipline in persistent action. Self Confidence and Hard Work are the keys to success. Once you understand the secrets of Millionaires and other successful individuals, you will see the major role that constant action plays in helping you achieve the unthinkable.

Think first, then act it out. Brian Tracy always says, "fake it till you make it". Jeff Olson always says, "do the thing, and success will follow" Nike says, "Just Do It". Larry the Cable Guy says, "Get'r Done". I say, "Think it out now and act on it after you got it". Obviously, the other guys' sayings is more catchy but do what it takes to do your best in what ever you do. Relationships, your job, your education, your spirituality...never relent and persist through all life gives you. Act Now!
